South Dakota Farm Bureau women are encouraged to make plans to join other Farm Bureau women from throughout the region at the Midwest Region Women’s Multi-State Conference, April 24-26, 2006, in Rapid City.  The theme of the conference is “Planting Seeds to Harvest Leaders.”

Agenda items include:

·        “Misconceptions about Agriculture” by Betty Wolanyk, Director of Education and Research for the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

·        “The Great American Farm” by Marsha Purcell, Managing Director of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture.

 ·        “Who Says We Can’t Do It?” by Bob Wilson, AFBF Senior Director, Leadership Development

·        A Legislative Update by Ron Gaskill, AFBF Director of Congressional Relations

·        “Women’s Involvement in the Political Process” by Linda Johnson, AFBF Director of Policy Implementation.

 ·        “Speak Up, Speak Out,” by Bob Wilson

In addition, there will be an opportunity to take a tour to Mt Rushmore, have lunch with Terry Gilbert, chair of the American Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee, and take part in a personality profile self-assessment.  A silent auction will be held in conjunction with the conference to benefit the White-Reinhardt scholarship fund and the Great American Farm exhibit at Disney World.

The registration fee for the conference is $125 per person and may be made by contacting the South Dakota Farm Bureau at 605-353-8052.  Registration deadline is March 30.

The conference will be held at the Best Western Ramkota Hotel and Conference Center in Rapid City.  Room rates at the hotel are $70 per room, plus tax.  To reserve a room by April 2, contact the Ramkota at 605-343-8550.
