SD Farm Bureau Recognizes
Friends of Agriculture

Businesses in Wall and Oelrichs were cited as a South Dakota Farm Bureau “Friend of Agriculture” during the organization’s recent convention in Spearfish.

The businesses are:

Johnson’s Ranchers Supply – Rick & Wendy Johnson  Rick and Wendy offer commercial hay grinding, as well as seed, feed, fertilizer, chemical, and other items necessary to farmers and ranchers.  In addition, Rick also farms and raises sheep.  He and his employees are actively involved in the community.  Rick belongs to the Wall Chamber of Commerce and is instrumental in the annual Ag Appreciation Event in Wall.

He served for six years on the board of directors and one year as president of the SD Agribusiness Association.  Rick is a certified crop Advisor at the national and state levels, which makes it possible for him to give his customers up-to-date advice.  One of his customers noted, “Rick has the interest of his customers at heart.  He truly wants them to be, and helps them to be, financially successful.”

Rick is a former ag instructor and continues to offer strong support of the FFA and 4-H.  He is a past school board member and is active in his church.

Trent Oil Company – Dewey & Myrtle, Ron & Any, and Devon Trent  The three-generation Trent family business provides an essential and reliable service for local farmers and ranchers with their bulk fuel and oil company.  The family is active in the community, and are supportive of the county 4-H clubs.
