Young Farmers/Ranchers Invited to Summer EventJuly 21-22, Pierre Ramkota Inn
Young farmers and ranchers from across the state are invited to attend the annual “Summer Event” hosted by the South Dakota Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Committee. The two-day leadership development seminar will be held at the Pierre Ramkota, July 21-22.
The conference begins with a presentation by the “Attitude Doctor” Terry Fleck. Attitudes are contagious, and Fleck will help participants discover if their attitude is worth catching. Fleck has an action plan for those whose attitude might need adjusting. Other speakers will talk about the importance of teamwork, how rural people can better protect themselves against agri-terrorism, and “Winning the Game” of grain commodity marketing. Breakout sessions will address bio-control for noxious weeds and tree care. The conference will also include a tour of the Oahe Dam, an evening barbecue, and family activities.
Cost for the conference is $70 per person or $130 per couple if pre-registered by July 10. The registration fee includes all meals and tours. Child care will be available. “We are excited about the quality of speakers and the topics we have lined up for this conference,” says SDFB YF&R Coordinator Lowell Mesman. “This is a unique way for young farmers and ranchers from across the state to meet and interact and at the same time gain some valuable information and skills.
