Members of the state’s largest general farm and ranch organization will
hold their 90th annual meeting November 16-17 in Pierre. The
theme for the South Dakota Farm Bureau Federation (SDFB) meeting is
“Farm Bureau: Honored Valued, Cherished Traditions, Endless
Opportunities.”
Speakers scheduled for the convention include American Farm Bureau
Federation President Bob Stallman, as well as the national AFBF Young
Farmers and Ranchers Chair, Chris Chinn from Emden, Missouri. In
addition, Dr. Ron Hanson from the University of Nebraska will give a
presentation on farm family ownership succession entitled, “You can buy
the farm, but just remember I still own it.”
Delegates representing county Farm Bureaus will elect board members and
officers and set the organization’s policy for the coming year. The
agenda also includes a Vesper Service, business meetings, recognitions
and awards.
All
sessions will be held at the Pierre Ramkota and are open to the public.
