SD Farm Bureau Sponsoring Carbon Credit Meetings

All areas of South Dakota are now eligible to participate in the voluntary Carbon Credit Exchange (CCX) program in conjunction with the Iowa Farm Bureau and the Chicago Climate Exchange.

Farmers interested in learning more about carbon credits and how they may be able to benefit from participating in the carbon credit exchange market are encouraged to attend an informational meeting being sponsored by the South Dakota Farm Bureau Federation.

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation (IFBF) Carbon Credit Aggregation Program is a credit purchased by companies that need to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions.  The program helps reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere while paying farmers to build up soil resources through no-till conservation practices.  Currently, more than 900,000 acres in 12 states are enrolled in the IFBF Carbon Credit Program.  The program was recently expanded to include all of South Dakota.
