Larry Eisenbraun from Wall was named the “Richard
Kjerstad Friend of the YF&R” at the recent South Dakota
Farm Bureau convention in Pierre. The honor is given in
recognition of a Farm Bureau member who supports and
encourages those involved in the Young Farmers and
Ranchers program. Recipients are noted for the example
they set for the YF&R Committee.
Eisenbraun has served as Vice-President of the
Pennington County Farm Bureau, as director of the West
River Electric Association, and as a member of the Board
of Supervisors for East Pennington Conservation District
The
“Friend of the YF&R Award” was initiated in honor of
long-time SD Farm Bureau President Richard Kjerstad.
The award is presented to an individual or family that
has shown outstanding support for the Young Farmers and
Ranchers program. Previous recipients are Patty
Kjerstad, Wall; John & Joyce Haak, Winfred; and Richard
and Agnes Ekstrum, Kimball.
The Young
Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) program provides an
opportunity for Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 to meet
other young farmer and ranchers from across the state
and nation. The YF&R committee offers educational
programs and other opportunities to develop and improve
leadership skills. The YF&R also sponsors several state
and national contests.
