SD Farm Bureau Scholarships Awarded

High School seniors from Platte and Timber Lake have been selected as winners of the 2007 SD Farm Bureau Scholarships.  Tyler Grussing of Platte and Emily Reinbold from Timber Lake were selected from 30 applicants for the $1,000 scholarships.  “Farm Bureau is honored to be able to provide these first-ever scholarships to two outstanding South Dakota youth,” said Mike Held, SDFB executive director.

Grussing, the son of Mark Grussing and Donna Knippling, will graduate from Kimball High School this spring.  He plans to attend South Dakota State University, with a major in Veterinary Medicine.  He is active in high school rodeo, football, basketball, track, band, FFA, 4-H, the SD Junior Red Angus Association, and his church youth group.

Reinbold is the daughter of Robert and Jeanette Reinbold. After graduating from Timber Lake High School, she plans to attend the University of South Dakota this fall, majoring in biology (pre-med).  Emily is president of the Student Council, and is involved in varsity volleyball, golf and basketball, as well as drama and band.  She was recently awarded a trip to the International Science and Engineering Fair in Albuquerque, NM.  She is also active in National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Teens Encounter Christ, Improv, Timber Lake Rodeo Association, Timber Lake Museum, and 4-H.

The SDFB scholarship fund was started by an initial endowment from Richard and Agnes Ekstrum, long-time Farm Bureau members from Kimball.
